Study Abroad in LEO (SAIL)

SAIL is a speculative proposal for a study abroad program in space for college students. A dedicated habitat module supports up to four students and two faculty members. Intended to be attached to a larger space station or a power and propulsion element, the module otherwise serves as a fully self-contained habitat. The 8-meter diameter cylinder contains a laboratory, crew quarters, lavatory and hygiene spaces, and a storage and equipment bay with an immersive LED ceiling. Window nooks support an ultimate expression of refuge and prospect and the option for a highly individualized or group experience.
